Flexible technology allows multiple delivery channels for our agency partners and drivers in their cities. The resulting applications provide traffic consumers with a variety of ways to obtain real-time, custom traffic reports.
Public-Private Partnerships
Traffic.com, Inc. is the lead Consortium partner that will continue to carry out it’s existing, competitively obtained contract under the Federal Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure Program (ITIP).
Under the ITIP legislation, Traffic.com® is creating interoperable systems of digital traffic sensors in major metropolitan areas across the country to provide comprehensive, real-time traffic information.
Traffic.com funds the equipment, maintenance, and ongoing operational expenses for the system in each participating metropolitan area and provides the DOTs with traffic data at a low-risk, fixed price. The partnerships do not require maintenance and operating payments from the agency. Agencies are provided innovative software applications to use the data are given the opportunity to expand and the system using commercial revenue.
Federal and state DOTs, transportation agencies, and 511 phone and Web services benefit from these public-private partnerships by utilizing Traffic.com’s real-time, high-quality basic traffic content. The delivery of Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) to agencies includes the following for their internal use:
- Data Gathering of digital traffic data and event/incident information
- Data Processing of real-time information for immediate distribution and archiving for historical/predictive analysis
